So for the past 2 weeks I been on my Lil Brother Get Back ish and the song Ive been playing the most is Sirens ft Carlitta Durand. If you are a runner, (im an amateur runner but 3 miles aint nothing to sneeze at) I recommend this song… it definitely gets you motivated.
But anyway, at the end of the track is a small audio clip. For the life of me I couldnt figure out where I knew this clip from. It made me laugh to no end. It was hilarious. So it hit me to just google a line from the clip. Lo & Behold, You Tube to the rescue & they have the exact clip and its even funnier to watch.

Day in & day out I attempt to stomach the buffoonery that has plagued our daytime and prime time television. As if soap operas werent enough, “reality tv” has spawned a entire new era of tv; reality tv killed the sitcom.
Dont get me wrong, some of it can be entertaining. Ive sat and enjoyed For the Love of Ray J & Flavor of Love with the rest of the world, but most of the tv shows aired today are out right obnoxious and just plain stupid. Most can be tolerated but at times I stumble upon a channel so irritating that I cover my eyes & mute the tv because the pain is unbearable. And thats BET.
I HATE BET! That is not Black Entertainment. Its a channel of bullshit. I have no idea what happened to this channel. It takes a turn for the worst with every new season and continuosly heads in the wrong direction. First of all, there arent many “black” television shows out at the moment. When UPN joined forces with the WB, black television got its long kiss goodnight. Girlfriends got axed before they could even force an ending and now shows like the Game and Everybody Hates Chris are on the verge of being cancelled for low ratings. Yet, do you ever see an ad for these shows?? I have no idea what time they come on!! Of course they are going to have low ratings. No one does!! Currently, House of Payne is leading the league in Black sitcoms but thats by default & I cant really get into the show because its just not good.
I remember a time where there were useful and entertaining shows on BET such as Teen Summit or BET News. Why would you ever cancel the news? The only black news show that would provide stories that focused on empowering black people whereas other news shows only featured us robbing liquor stores.
What ever happened to shows like The Cosby Show. Where are the positive reinforcements in television?? Our children still need role models. Have we forgotten that???
Everything on that BET is a bad imitation of MTV; it looks fuzzy and low budget. This is the channel that gave us Hell Date, Harlem Heights and lets not forget that God awful sitcom, “Somebodies”. When I sit and watch I just wonder who said these shows were a good idea?? Is that really what you consider Black Entertainment Television??? I wonder if they are still employed because if they are, they shouldnt be. Even Spring Bling looks raggedy. MTV The Grind was waaay better back in the early 90s.
However, Ive got to commend TV One. They have stepped it up and is pretty much what BET should have been a looooong time ago. They’re not perfect just light years ahead of the latter. They at least attempt to depict African Americans in a positive light.They create new innovative shows and they maintain focus on the current plight of the African American community. No booty shakers, no Flavor Flav and no cooning. Just good tv.
